The new Snapdragon 675 promises to handle resource-intensive mobile games much better with a multitude of internal optimizations. Qualcomm claims, compared to the Snapdragon 670, the 675 can launch games about 30% quicker and reduces janks by 90%. Qualcomm says it has also specifically tweaked the chipset to offer a more refined experience on the most popular games such as PUBG, Honor of Kings, and others. As far as general performance is concerned, the Snapdragon 675 comes with an upgraded Adreno 612 GPU, 4th-Gen Kryo 460 octa-core CPU, the two performance cores of which are clocked at 2.0GHz and the six efficiency ones at 1.7GHz. Put together, you get an overall performance bump of 20 percent. In fact, it is Qualcomm’s first silicon with 11nm fabrication, which should ensure better power management as well. In addition, the 3rd-Gen Qualcomm AI Engine, the Hexagon 685 DSP is present as well for processing neural network requests from applications like the camera. The chip is compatible with up to Full HD+ screens and even supports Quick Charge 4+ if and when manufacturers feel like adding it to their mid-range phones. The other headlining feature of the Snapdragon 675 chip is the fact that it natively supports triple-camera rear setups. The processor can carry an arrangement that houses a super-wide lens, a telephoto snapper for 5X optical zoom, and a regular wide-angle camera. Of course, Portrait Mode is still here but the difference this time is that phone makers can also integrate HDR in it for much more balanced shots in various lighting scenarios. The second-generation Spectra 250L ISP can capture visuals of up to 25-megapixels and HD slow-mo recording at a maximum of 480fps. In the case of dual-camera setups, it’s compatible with up to two 16-megapixel sensors. What’s more, the Snapdragon 675 can power 3D front sensors as well for enabling a more secure facial recognition system and better depth-of-field effects. It also has Qualcomm’s Aqstic Voice UI which allows users to summon multiple voice assistants without drawing much power. It has the same X12 LTE Modem found on the Snapdragon 670 which is capable of reaching download bandwidth of up to 600 Mbps. Devices running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 are expected to arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2019. With companies like Samsung already offering phones with three cameras on the back at relatively affordable price segments, we wouldn’t surprised if that becomes the next big thing among phone makers in a few months.
